MEMBER POLICIES

 
  1. Billing: All memberships are on recurring, monthly payments.  Memberships begin on the first day of the selected month. After that they are billed at $185 on the first of each month until termination. Memberships that began March 2022 and later are billed bi-monthly ($370) for the two months forthcoming.

  2. Termination: Written notice to terminate your membership for the upcoming month must be given at least 7 days prior to your renewal.  All renewals are on the First of the month. Items left on your shelf after the final day of your membership will be discarded.

  3. Any member choosing to end their membership will be added to the studio’s waitlist if they choose to return. If a member would like to “pause” their membership, they need to terminate their membership and rejoin when ready.

  4. A $50 cancellation fee is required for any memberships cancelled before the start date.

  5. Bikes are not permitted in the studio, per building rules.

  6. Clay, bisqueware and glazes from other studios or home are not allowed into Hickory Clay. Members may NOT take work home to work on. Hickory Clay does not fire outside work. All clay must be purchased from a staff member.

  7. Members will not load, unload or operate the pottery kilns. 

  8. Blowtorches and personal heat guns are not allowed.

7. Members are responsible for leaving the studio in a clean condition. Clean all tools and return them to their appropriate storage areas. Wipe down all wheels, wedging areas, and equipment you use.

8. Do not touch or move any clay projects that do not belong to you. If you need to move a piece, please ask a staff member.

9. Members are not permitted to bring their own glazes or underglazes unless they have the express consent of a Daniel Karvasales and Ashley Hinton.  Glazes must be store bought; hand mixed glazes are not permitted.

10. Slip casting and plaster making/mixing is not allowed.

11. Smoking is not allowed inside the studio, within 25 feet of the entrance, or on the roof.

12. Members are never permitted on the roof.

13. Fired work must be picked up from Hickory Clay no later than 21 days after glaze firing. Hickory Clay will purge or recycle work after 21 days.

14. Damp room will be purged once per month.  All dry pieces will be recycled.

15. Long hair is to be tied back. Open-toed and open-heeled shoes are not permitted in the studio.

16. Member open studio hours are subject to change.
